MIT group publishes white papers on AI governance

A group of experts from MIT and other institutions has released a series of white papers on the governance of artificial intelligence (AI), covering topics such as ethics, human rights, security, and democracy. The white papers are the result of a two-year project called the MIT-AI Policy Congress, which brought together academics, policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society representatives to discuss the opportunities and challenges of AI development and deployment.

The white papers aim to provide guidance and recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders on how to ensure that AI is used in a responsible, beneficial, and inclusive manner. The white papers address issues such as:

The white papers also highlight the need for international cooperation and coordination on AI governance, as well as the role of various actors and institutions, such as the United Nations, the European Union, the OECD, and the Global Partnership on AI.

The MIT-AI Policy Congress is an initiative of the MIT Internet Policy Research Initiative (IPRI), which is part of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). The project is supported by the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing, the MIT Stephen A. Schwarzman College of Computing, and the MIT Quest for Intelligence.
